Raymond D. Stapleton

Raymond D. Stapleton, PhD, CMC advisor

  

Raymond D. Stapleton, Jr. is a Scientific Advisor for DoriNano. With almost 26 years of experience, he is recognized as an expert in the Process Development and Manufacturing of complex biological products. Dr. Stapleton specializes in building CMC strategies, tech transfers, building / licensing GMP manufacturing facilities, and interactions with global Boards of Health. He is currently Chief Technology Officer for Altido Therapeutics, a biotech company developing new cell therapy treatment for glioblastoma.


Previous roles for Dr. Stapleton include acting as CTO of Vaxart, a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on innovative oral vaccine solutions, and Genocea Biosciences, a vaccine and T cell therapy company. At both companies, he had responsibilities for process and analytical development, manufacturing, supply chain for the personalized therapy medicines and both Quality Assurance and Quality Control. As a member of the Executive Team, he built the CMC strategy and worked with colleagues to build corporate strategy and meet with investors and analysts. 


Additional experience adding to Dr. Stapleton’s value as an advisor for DoriNano include his role as President and COO of the global life sciences company ATCC and twenty years of leadership positions at Merck & Co., Inc. At Merck, he led complex Technical Operations organizations and served in supporting roles on the commercial launch of several billion-dollar products including GARDASIL / GARDASIL9, ISENTRESS, and KEYTRUDA. Dr. Stapleton holds a BS in Biology from Mary Washington College and a PhD in Microbial Ecology from The University of Tennessee – Knoxville. He performed his post-doctoral studies as an Alexander Hollaender Fellow at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Dr. Stapleton gained Blackbelt certification in Lean and Six Sigma. He is a co-author on multiple patents and more than 15 peer-reviewed publications, and has served on the Editorial Review Board for Journal of Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology.
